QNAP has unveiled the TVS ‑ h1288X and TVS ‑ h1688X NAS with QuTS hero operating system, featuring a 3.3 GHz Intel Xeon W ‑ 1250 six-core processor and up to 128 GB DDR4 ECC memory.
Reportedly, the announced new items support the installation of two PCIe ‑ expansion cards QXP ‑ T32P (they are sold separately), which allow you to get four Thunderbolt 3 ports.
Hybrid drive cages on each model include four 2.5 ” SATA SSD bays and two M.2 NVMe Gen 3 x4 solid-state drive bays to flexibly organize both high-speed storage tiers and SSD caching for increased input performance -Output and reduce latency when accessing databases or running applications in virtual machines.
For connectivity to the network infrastructure, a dual-port 10GBASE-T NIC (located in one of three PCIe Gen 3 x8 slots) and four 2.5Gbps ports are provided that support grouping and failover.
It is noted that free PCIe slots can accommodate two QXP ‑ T32P expansion cards to connect up to four Thunderbolt workstations to enhance the efficiency of 4K content collaboration, file storage, backup, and sharing. Also installs network cards with 5, 10, 25, and 40 Gb / s ports, adapters with Fiber Channel interface 16 and 32 Gb / s, universal QM2 cards for adding M.2 SSDs, and a 10 Gb / s port (10GBASE ‑ T), QXP cards for connecting disk expansion modules or graphics cards (using a 550W power supply) for faster video editing and transcoding, or GPU pass-through to virtual machines. Built-in HDMI output supports direct video output up to 4K resolution at 30Hz.
It is emphasized that the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system supports data integrity and self-healing, built-in deduplication, compression, and compression functions to reduce data volume. It also offers virtually unlimited snapshots and triple parity and triple mirroring RAID configurations for increased storage resiliency.
