Gigabyte is developing an updated version of the high-endurance UD-Pro SATA SSDs. The SSDs are equipped in the 2.5-inch form factor with SATA 6 Gbit / s interface and have capacities of 256 GB (GP-UDPRO256G), 512 GB (GP-UDPRO512G) and 1 TB (GP-UDPRO1T). They use the latest KIOXIA 3D TLC NAND with 96-layer technology. Gigabyte certifies that its new SSD series has a much longer lifespan than its predecessor. The 1 TB variant, for example, was rated in comparison to the NAS-optimized WD Red SA500 1 TB with a lifespan of 750 TBW (Terabyte Written) against 600 TBW.
All three variants offer sequential transfer speeds of up to 550 MB / s for the read, and up to 530 MB / s for write processes. The random read and the random write IOPs are also the same for all three variants; this is up to 98,000 and 89,000 IOPs, respectively. The drives seem to be using the Phison S10-series controller with fixed 256 MB DRAM cache across all three variants. Also, the SSD Toolbox app, which is available for download, can be used to read SMART information and to manage the drives for secure deletion. GIGABYTE grants a 5-year guarantee on all drives.
